How this site
gets paid.
Every “Check price” and “Open the listing” button on this site is an affiliate link. If you buy after using one, the retailer may pay us a commission. Your price does not change by a cent.
Who pays us
Retailers and affiliate networks — at present, programmes associated with Takealot.com. We are paid a percentage of qualifying orders. We are never paid by the brand whose product we are writing about, and payment is never conditional on what the write-up says.
What that does and does not buy
- It does not buy a verdict. Our criticisms of a product — the non-returnable flag on this jar, the manufacturer's unverified percentage claims — stay in the article regardless of commission.
- It does not buy placement. No brand pays to be covered or to be covered first.
- It does fund the site. Commission is how the products get bought and the writing gets paid for. Without it there is no site.
How links are marked
Commercial links carry rel="nofollow sponsored", pass through a visible interstitial page that tells you where you are going, and sit under a disclosure banner that appears at the top of every page on this site. Nothing is dressed up as an editorial link when it is a paid one.
Prices
Prices on this site are copied from the retailer's listing on the date stated next to them, in South African rand and including VAT where the retailer includes it. They are a snapshot. The retailer's listing at the moment you check out is the only price that is binding, and delivery fees are extra unless the retailer says otherwise.
Products we discuss
We cover cosmetics. The products on this site are not registered with the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) as medicines or medical devices, and we do not claim they diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything. Health decisions belong with a healthcare professional.
